Bullying: A Whole School Approach is presented in two parts:

Part One: Developing a whole-school approach explores ways in which teachers can collaborate with each other and other members of staff to formulate policy and practice to build and maintain a safe learning environment for the whole school community.

Part One offers:

  Practical intervention and prevention strategies.
  Guidelines for formalising grievance procedures.
  Guidelines for developing and implementing an anti-bullying policy.
  Pro-forma documentation to assist with record-keeping.
  Ways of supporting parents.
  Several checklists to assist with the development of a whole-school approach.

Part Two: Putting It Into Practice is geared specifically for students. In contains 15 lessons and each one includes:

    Fact File - which gives brief relevant background information for that lesson. It informs teachers of current issues.
    Aims and Learning Outcomes - which give the skills and understandings that students should gain on completing the lesson.
    Materials Required for that lesson.
    Activities designed to encourage student participation at many levels.
    What Kids Say will give teachers a realistic expectation of students' views on the topic.
    Kids at Work activities that the students complete on their own.
    Coaching Tips provide helpful hints and reminders for the teacher.
    Just for Fun gives the ideas for taking the concept further, if desired.
   

Appendix provides support material including:
